Macmillan Cancer Support
Rebranded Illustration Style
The Brief
I was tasked with creating a new illustration style to replace Macmillan’s outdated and underused silhouettes. The goal was not only to modernise the brand’s visual identity but also to ensure the illustrations were easy to reproduce by both the internal creative team and external suppliers.
The Creative Solution
I developed a simple yet distinctive illustration style inspired by multi-layered screen printing. By layering colours and incorporating slight shifts in alignment, I introduced a dynamic, textured feel that brought the visuals to life — while making full use of Macmillan’s refreshed colour palette.
This new style has now been adopted across the brand, with a growing library of over 200 illustrations. It’s used in everything from national campaigns like the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning (Macmillan’s largest fundraiser) to cancer awareness posters in GP waiting rooms, as well as across social media and CRM communications.
