WTR Magazine
Design and layout system
The Brief
World Trademark Review is a bi-monthly, practitioner-focused magazine available to subscribers in both print and digital formats. It covers key developments and insights relevant to trademark professionals globally.
I was briefed to create a flexible and easy-to-use grid system that could be implemented consistently by various team members across the organisation — regardless of design experience — while maintaining a professional and editorially strong layout.
The Creative Solution
I designed a clean, modular template and layout system that balanced editorial clarity with commercial needs — with particular attention given to advertising placement and clear sectioning of content. The structure supports consistency across issues while allowing enough flexibility for varying article lengths and design needs.
In addition, I was responsible for designing the cover of each issue, which leaned heavily on bold, concept-driven illustration to capture attention and reflect the lead stories.
The system is now in regular use and has helped streamline production while maintaining a strong, recognisable visual identity for the publication.
